Pat Helland, Microsoft architect, has an excellent paper on MSDN right now about the appropriate use of data in SOA, in particular data on the outside of a service vs. data on the inside. If any of you sat through his architecture talk at the PDC (like I did), some of the material will be familiar. Highly suggested read.
