IE7 Is Good, But I Still Loves Me Some Firefox

Yet another post about post-repaved laptop...

After taking the plunge and upgrading Office 2003 to Office 2007, I also decided the time was right to upgrade to IE7. I've put this upgrade off for a long time simply because I use Firefox and only use IE when absolutely necessary, and even then I do it with the IE Tab Firefox extension.

I must admit IE7 is a huge leap forward from Microsoft in the browser market (finally). What makes it more attractive than ever is that like Firefox, it has a lot of add-ons available, and more importantly to me it has basically the same add-ons that I use in Firefox.

There was even a period of about a day or so that I thought I was going to make the switch from Firefox to IE7 as my browser of choice. But alas, it is not meant to be. The new UI in IE7 is better than what is was, but it's kind of annoying. I actually think they should have used the new Ribbon interface that is found in Office 2007.

So even though my Firefox allegiance was tested, I remain a loyal Firefox user (upgraded to v2).

For me the killer <strikethrough>app</strikethrough> add-on for Firefox is the Firebug debugger/inspector.

I know there is the IE Developer Toolbar, but it's not even in the same league as Firebug. Its a CSS, HTML, JavaScript, DOM, etc... debugger and inspector all rolled into one, and it integrates right into FF.

Hell yeah! Downloaded the IE Developer Toolbar Beta3 and it trashed my IE with constant javascript errors. I only installed it to get some level of client side debugging for IE, otherwise I am all Firefox.

For me the killer component of Firefox is its extensibility, each day it seems someone writes some ultra cool utility where you go 'geeh thats really handy I'll load that.'. IE just doesn't appear to have this sort of following, especially from a developer perspective.

Firebug, Dev toolbar and greasemonkey! life is sweet for the fox.
