So Long Business 2.0

I was cleaning out a bunch of stuff today as part of our house remodeling and came across an issue of Business 2.0 magazine that I hadn't read yet. I know I hadn't read it because it had one of those covers on it that said "This is your last issue" in big bold letters. There was other, smaller text on that cover but I didn't pay any attention - until I sat down a few minutes ago to read it. I assumed when it said "This is your last issue" it was a reminder that I needed to renew my subscription. But what those other, smaller letters actually said shocked me: that Time, the owner of Business 2.0, decided to close the magazine.

This really, really, bums me out. I subscribed to Business 2.0 because they covered all the entrepreneurial happenings that were going, and I would almost always read the issue front-to-back as soon as it arrived in the mail. Heck, my buddy Will and I have had several conversations late at night on the day it showed up at our houses just so we could talk about what we read. That's how much I looked forward to receiving Business 2.0 each month.

The part I find most disappointing is that the Business 2.0 brand is gone. Literally gone. When I saw that the magazine was closing, part of me thought that they just weren't going to be in physical print anymore and that they'd be back soon with a shiny new web site with all the fixins. But in reading the editor's letter, it's pretty obvious that's not going to happen. Most of the staff have found new jobs, with some going to Fortune magazine and others going elsewhere.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I won't be receiving a Business 2.0 magazine anymore, and that sucks.
