Blogging Feedback
Tuesday, June 29 2004
So I'm sitting here all by myself (wife, kids, and dog are all sleeping) enjoying a frosty cold beer, reading blogs, and listening to Return of the Jedi playing in the background (yes, I actually like ROTJ - leave me alone). I see that Brendan Tompkins posted about blogging guilt and it got me thinking about my blog. In particular, it got me thinking about who my readers are and what their expectations are from me.
The best I can tell, I've got about 25-30 consistent aggregators picking up my feed. I've always wondered who subscribes to my blog, and why. Did you Google for something, found my blog, and decided to stick around? Did someone else recommend my blog to you? How did you find me? I know who a couple of my readers are, but certainly not everyone.
So with that, I'd like to ask a favor of my readers (which just sounds weird): if you subscribe to my blog, leave me a comment on this post. And if you so desire, let me know what you think of my blog and if it provides any real value to you. And be sure to link to yourself if you've got a blog/site so I can check you out.

Dave... I'm definitely tuned in. Found you through comments you left on someone else's blog. Forget who at the moment, Darrell Norton maybe?
I picked you up from a trackback or through technorati. I looked around, liked what you were blogging, and subscribed. :)
I found you by way of Brendan/Darrell (the only other 2 commenters thus far); they serve as my portal (or Stargate?) to new quality blogs out there as I don't have time to wade through it all. I probably check your blog once a week or so.
Similarly, I came across your blog via a link on someone else's, saw some interesting articles and added it to FeedDemon... FeedDemon checks pretty much all my subscriptions each morning, so I'm 3-4% of those stats. ;-)
Hey Man, You know how I found your Blog!
I have gotten a lot out of your posts. I really respect your views on technology and your coding philosophies. Thanks for blogging.
By the way, Bring me that Java book you've been talking about, And how about hookin' me up with the new Whidbey beta? :)
thanks,
MD
I found your blog after I started reading Brendan Tompkins blog, which I found in a Google search. From my experience a general response of 4% or less can be expected. So with this being the sixth reply you have at least 150 readers.
I was googling VB6 Unit Testing and ended up here.
Ciao for now ;-)
Why do I read your blog? I don't know why really... probably because you call me once a week and ask me if I've read it. You gotta have something to read while on a teleconference at work.
Jennifer - that's just plain wrong :-)
