CodeMash 2.0.0.8 - I'll Be There
Sunday, December 09 2007
In case you haven't heard, the excellent CodeMash conference is being put on again Jan 9-11, 2008 at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, OH. I was fortunate to present a session on NHibernate last year and was really impressed by the collection of speakers, topics, and attendees that were there. I'm also lucky enough to be accepted as a speaker again this year, as I'll be giving a talk titled "RESTful Web Services", which will go something like this:
"Big web service frameworks have dominated the web service landscape the last few years, but there is a movement in the industry to get back to basics when it comes to using the web as a platform for distributed computing. REST is an architectural style that emphasizes the basics of the web's underlying technologies: HTTP, URIs, and XML. This session will demonstrate power in simplicity by not only showing the differences between REST and big web service frameworks, but will also talk about how to create RESTful web services that are simpler in design, more versatile, and more scalable."
I only recently got into REST as part of the work I've been doing on the new web services you'll find when we release Community Server 2008. As such, this will be the first time giving this talk, and I'm really looking forward to the change as it's fairly different than a lot of the past talks I've given.
If you missed last year's CodeMash, I highly suggest not missing this one. The speakers and sessions look to be top-notch again (and very wide-ranging), and they've scored a couple big shots for the keynotes: Scott Hanselman and Brian Goetz.
Hope to see you there.

Any chance of getting a valid URL into the CodeMash site? Or has their site code been mashed? I keep receiving a web app error...
