CodeMash Is Coming
If you're in the greater Midwest region in January, you don't want to miss CodeMash 2007. This is going to be a fantastic event and I look for it to be on par with the Heartland Developers Conference that I've been a part of the last couple years. The difference will be the slant; meaning, the HDC is focused solely on Microsoft developers, while CodeMash is focused not only on Microsoft technologies, but PHP, Java, Python, and Ruby as well. How about that developer mix? Can you imagine some of the conversations that will take place?

The organizers already have some major speakers lined up, such as Bruce Eckel, Scott Guthrie, and Neal Ford (plus possibly a couple other major names I'm not allowed to mention yet). If you're interested in speaking, the deadline for submission is Nov. 15, so you better act fast.

The cost of this event is only $99 if you register by Nov. 30 and only $149 after that. That's a crazy deal. Plus, the venue is unique because its at the Kalahari Resort, a huge indoor waterpark in Sandusky, OH, which also means the dress attire for the conference is khaki shorts, Hawaiian shirts, and sandals. You just can't beat 500 pasty-white geeks in mid-January in Ohio :-)

Jason Follas, Josh Holmes, Brian Prince, and Jim Holmes (am I forgetting someone?) have done a great job of putting this thing together. The underlying theme for the event is to "free your mind" to open yourself up to other technologies, which I for one am definitely geeked up about it. Hopefully you are too.
