Finally Moved to Graffiti (and OrcsWeb)

Today was my 1-year anniversary at Telligent, and in honor of this momentous occasion, I have *finally* moved my blog off Subtext and onto Graffiti (or GraffitiCMS proper I should say).

Me not moving my blog to one of our own products has been kind of a running joke on the team. Every so often someone would ask if I was ever going to move off Subtext, or I would say something about doing it over some weekend but then never would. And don't read anything into that. Not once did anyone complain or pressure me about it. It's just been pure laziness on my part.

But I finally made the time a couple nights ago and things have went pretty smoothly. Graffiti easily imported all my blog posts and comments from an exported BlogML file and I was quickly in business. From there it was a matter of picking a theme and configuring some settings. I'll go into more details in my next post.

I also took this time to move my blog from DiscountASP to OrcsWeb. DiscountASP has been great and I still have some other stuff hosted there, but as a Microsoft MVP (also renewed today) I get free hosting with OrcsWeb. I've heard really good things about them and thought I'd finally take advantage of the offer. As with Graffiti, moving to OrcsWeb has been smooth. My only real "complaint" is that their control panel isn't nearly as good as the control panel at DiscountASP. DiscountASP's control panel is still the best I've seen.

So anyway, take a look around the new site and let me know what you think. I still need to add an About page and a Contact page, but at least I finally added a picture of myself (that's just for you Keith Elder).

Ahhhhh a nice purty picture!

Yee-haw. That's some picture you got there pardner. :D

I agree with Keith and Nate on the picture. I'll add that I really like the Graffiti skin, too. That Rich Mercer guy does pretty good work :)

Dan - Yes, that Rich guy does good work, but let's never tell him ;-)

Can't get at old downloads NhibernateRepository for example

Kev - I'm going to add a Tools category with links to NHibernateRepository and other stuff.

Kev - If you use the search box on this site you'll find all the NHibernateRepository stuff.

After moving from Subtext to Graffiti , I noticed my FeedBurner stats have taken quite a hit: I dropped from about 380 readers to 215. This was especially puzzling because I updated my FeedBurner settings appropriately and thought everything was fine

After moving my blog to Graffiti , a couple people emailed to tell me that many of the images in my blog posts weren't showing up. So I spent awhile tonight going back through a lot of my posts and fixing what was broken.

I cannot seem to get at the zips. I am getting 404s

Kev - Woops, my bad, I forgot about some of the zip files I had. Those should all be fixed now.

Thanks a lot!

So you probably know by now that several days ago I moved my blog off of the Subtext blog engine and onto GraffitiCMS , our simple content management software that is perfect for running a blog site. As I did that, I jotted down some notes that I thought

I’ve never actually written a “Top X Posts” post to end the year before, so I figured, what the heck, I’ll do one this year. As Phil points out , “I find that somewhat narcissistic, so you know I’m going to do that”.
