HDC Rocks

Thursday, October 13 2005

I'm here in Cedar Rapids at the Heartland Developers Conference and I gotta tell you, I'm very impressed. There are over 300 developers here and they had 105 people on the waitlist. That high of a number on the waitlist is a clear indication of how popular this event is. Joe Olsen has done a fantastic job organizing this event and has really taken care of us speakers. I gave my talk right after Rocky's keynote (in front of about 150-175 developers) and thought it was well received, at least according to a few compliments I got afterwards. I've been having issues with my laptop lately and was praying it held up just long enough to get through my talk, which it did, so that was a huge relief.

The GeeksWithBlogs crew, Jeff Julian and Jon Alexander, are here doing podcasts with all the speakers. I did my podcast with them just a little bit ago and thought it went well. Topics ranged from writing quality code (the topic of my talk), CodeKeep, and going independent. This was my first podcast, so I'm interested to hear how it acutally sounds when they make it available on PodcastStudio.net.
