Wow, it certainly has been awhile hasn’t it? Looks like it’s been over 4 months since I’ve written a blog post; definitely the longest drought since I started blogging back in 2004. But it’s not been without good reason, as there’s been some significant changes in my life. The biggest is that I left Telligent back in June (2 months ago already!) to start my own company back up again, and to launch League Galaxy.

I’ll leave why I left Telligent for another post, but for now I want to talk about League Galaxy. Simply put, League Galaxy is a better way for coaches and administrators to manage their amateur sports teams, leagues, and organizations. By better I mean cleaner, simpler, more intuitive, and having one of the best user experiences on the web for managing the data of amateur sports teams, leagues, and organizations.
What separates League Galaxy from other offerings is its laser focus on simplicity. Coaches, team managers, and league officials are not only involved in managing their teams, but they also have the responsibility of their daily lives (family, work, etc). The last thing they need is a tool that gets in their way, and this is the drive behind making League Galaxy their tool of choice.
Being involved in my son’s travel baseball team has exposed me to all the terrible sites out there for managing team data (players, coaches, the schedule, parents, mailing lists, stats, etc). It’s amazing to me that these sites actually get away with taking people’s money. So after spending many months of research, I felt the time was right to take a risk and start the business.
Currently, League Galaxy allows you to signup for a couple different team plans (Team Bronze, Team Silver), with another team plan (Team Gold) just around the corner. Once the Team Gold plan is ready, I’ll be able to focus on launching the league and organization plans, which will allow coaches and administrators to manage all of their teams from a higher level.
If you are involved in amateur sports in any way, youth or adult, or know someone who is, give League Galaxy a try and let me know what you think. To get a feel for what League Galaxy looks like and can do, view the screenshots and watch the screencasts, or better yet, signup for the Team Bronze plan and then upgrade when you’re ready.
And seeing as how the site just launched, I’m serious about getting early feedback, so send me your thoughts, the good, the bad, or ugly ;-)
In any case, please pass the word, and stay tuned for updates.
